SWIM TEAM 101
-
Here is some helpful information for parents of team members:
-
-
At Practices:
-
1. At practices, we ask that you will respect the coaches and let them coach your child without interference. If you need to speak to a coach, please do so before or after the practice.
-
2.Please be on time so that your swimmer will receive the full benefit of the practice. We do understand that until school is out, there will be days missed and days you may be late. Our only goal is that your child will get the most out of each practice.
-
3.The water will most likely be pretty cold the first week or 2 of practice, it is a good idea to bring an extra towel and something warm to change into after practice.
-
4.To help prevent swimmers ear, you may purchase Swim Ear at a drug or grocery store to help dry the water that may get trapped in their ear.
-
-
At Meets:
-
ALWAYS BE ON TIME!!!!!
-
-
1.Coaches will pick which events your child will swim for each meet. If you cannot be at a meet, please contact a Team Rep via email to let us know in advance so that changes can be made.
-
2.During the meets, please make sure your swimmer stays in the team’s designated area so that when it is time for their event they can be easily located.
-
3.We expect our swimmers to be respectful to the other teams and no unsportsmanlike jeering or taunting will be tolerated.
-
-
4. We encourage everyone to stay until the end of each meet to cheer our team on, but you and your child may leave after their last event and your volunteer time is completed.
-
-
5.If your child is an alternate on a relay, they must stay until that event is over.
-
6.6 & unders typically are done with their event(s) the first 30 minutes of the meet. However, please check with the coaches prior to leaving to make sure your swimmer is not needed in a relay or other event.
-
7.There is no use of the baby pool during any meet.
-
8.The first few weeks may be cold, have your child bring an extra towel or sweatshirt to wear between events.
-
9.Swimmers need to stay hydrated and fed during meets. Please bring protein and high quality carbs…not junk. Those bodies are working hard. A water bottle is a must! Concessions will be available at meets (bring $).
-
-
At meets, seating is limited; you may want to bring a folding chair.
